Brian Marriott Glass Art

Artist & GlassArt Profile.

I graduated from Portsmouth Art College in 1970 and then started a graphic design practice on the Isle of Wight. After 40 successful years as ‘Marriott Design’ one of the South’s leading design studios, I decided to turn a new chapter in my creative life to concentrate on being an equally successful artist/designer. I have reinvented myself, combining a professional life in design, a love of painting and glass with an instinctive desire for creativity.

GlassArt

I create sculpted glass pictures that emulate impasto oil painting.  Inspiration comes by the landscapes and coastline of the Isle of Wight, sailing, abstract forms or the individual challenge for specific commissions.  Exclusively working with recycled waste glass fragments from the famous Isle of Wight Studio Glass, these unique handmade pictures have evolved as a direct development of his design skills. Combining an understanding of composition and visual presentation.

Mixed Media Prints

Extending my GlassArt imagery I have reworked them with mixed media and presented them as large format artworks which have had further surface treatments with epoxy resins to enhance the nature of the subject.

Paintings

With an instinctive eye for an effective creative image, my style is variable relative to achieving the best results for a specific commission.

Previous Winner of the 'IW Landscape Artist of the Year'. Runner up in the Sardinian Biennial 'Isolie'
